The Body of Christ: Joined

What does marriage teach us about Jesus and the church? In Ephesians 5:21-33, Paul instructs wives to submit and husbands to lovingly sacrifice. He then focuses on his metaphor of the entire church as the body of Christ. He intertwines his counsel on marriage with instruction for church members to care for one another, suggesting that the church to which we belong is actually an extension of our individual family units.
