In preparation for the climactic opening of the seventh seal, Jesus now shows John a vision of an innumerable multitude of the redeemed worshipping around the throne of justice. Along with the 144,000, this vision answers the question presented in 6:17 of who is able to stand on the day of the Lord: only those who are sealed and washed pure in the blood of the Lamb who was slain!
