If the Creator showed the strangers in His garden a gracious hospitality, and the law Giver instructed His people to imitate His saving hospitality to neighbor and stranger alike, then it is no surprise that in the gospels we find the Good Shepherd as the guest of a marginalized tax collector, infusing his hospitality with the good news of the Shepherd's search and rescue mission.
