Directly after teaching on child-like faith, Mark 10:17-31 gives a vivid and contradictory illustration of the heir of the kingdom of God. Here, we find that the treasures of heaven only flow into an empty vessel and only God can bestow an inheritance of eternal life (through hardship) upon His children.
